Reader’s Question:

I need help on how to get cheap SR22 auto insurance in Idaho. I hope someone can help me with this. Thanks!

Emily

Boise, ID

I’d be happy to help you Emily. There are various factors that affect the rates of auto insurance in Idaho. One of them is a person’s driving history. It is a fact that insurance providers will consider your driving history (and also those of other persons that are included in the policy) for the last three to five years. So, it is only important that you do your best to drive carefully. You were probably required to get an SR22 due to reasons such as DUI, driving without car insurance, etc.

Although accidents could happen anytime, as long as you not at fault, the insurance provider would understand that and would not take it against you. However, if you do not have a clean driving record, then you might find it a challenge to get cheap of auto insurance in Idaho.

In addition, you will find it beneficial on your part to compare auto insurance quotes from several companies before actually getting one. The reasons for this is insurance rates vary from one company to another. So shopping for insurance quotes and comparing these quotes would be a great help for you to find the best auto insurance deal in your area. You can start looking for insurance quotes right now from the Internet. There are various comparison websites where you can compare quotes from various car insurance companies that will be able to offer you cheap SR22 car insurance quote in Idaho. Just like the form above this page, you can utilize that to get free quotes from car insurance companies that offer coverage in your area.

Good luck and hope you’ll find the best deal for yourself.

Idaho Auto Insurance Requirements – What Are They?

Reader’s Question:

Can I have my car registered Idaho and insure that vehicle in California? What are the Idaho auto insurance requirements?

Harold

Boise, ID

According to the ID Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to register a car in Idaho the vehicle must belong to an Idaho resident or business and the car must be titled in Idaho before it can be registered. Idaho residents who are temporarily in a different state (i.e., students or military personnel) may request titles and registrations for their cars through the mail.

If the state of Idaho does not require you to have your car insurance purchased through an Idaho Insurance company then it may be possible to insure the car in California if you are currently residing in California as a non-resident that does not need to register the vehicle there. For example if your permanent address is in Idaho but you are a college student in California your Idaho insurance company may not cover you to be in CA since the car is garaged in CA a majority of the year. You then may be able to acquire California insurance but you will likely need to get limits of 25/50/15 to meet Idaho’s minimum requirements since your car is registered in that state.

So if you want to have your vehicle registered in Idaho and insured in CA you will need check with the ID Department of Motor Vehicle first to make certain it is okay then look for an insurance carrier that would provide you this type of car insurance policy.

Reader’s Question:

We have a good standard of living at the moment here in Idaho that’s why I never thought of getting life insurance. Problem is, I don’t think we have enough savings so I’m already thinking twice. Could you give some other reasons why I should buy life insurance?

Cameron

Nampa, ID

Should you have an expected death, one of the greatest ways to keep away your family from financial suffering is to get life insurance. However, since this can be a common cause why a person should get life insurance, you just could not prevent having so many queries and the willingness to learn the other causes why you need to get life insurance. As financial professionals say, one of the most known causes why a person have to consider getting a life insurance policy is to give your family the financial protection they need whether they depend on you or not. This will secure them financially in the future should unexpected circumstances happen.

The importance of life insurance would depend on an individual’s status in life. For instance, if a person is single, he/she might not think of a person who may be the recipient of the life insurance plan. Because he/she could not think of a person who could be worthy to receive death benefits, the amount of life insurance coverage would be lesser than a person who has a family. However, if you are getting married and starting to have kids and other dependents, you would have more reasons to get life insurance. As long as you have obligations, particularly if they financially depend on you, life insurance gives them financial security in the future.

Reader’s Question:

How can I lower auto insurance cost in Idaho?

Charlie

Boise ID

There are many ways for you to lower vehicle insurance cost in Idaho. The first thing you should do is to shop for quotes. Shopping for quotes means you get a comparison of how insurers rate you. You will also know which among them provide the lowest or the highest premium. The second way for you to lower your vehicle insurance cost in Idaho is to maintain a good credit report. Insurance companies prefer people who pay for their credit.

Getting a lower vehicle insurance cost in Idaho can also happen through the choice of your vehicle. The less expensive your car is, the better it is since insurers face a lower risk with that. Remember though not to purchase a very old model that does not have safety features. Safety features are important in lowering your costs. Also, your insurance rate will lower if you stick to the minimum coverage for the state of Idaho. If your car is not flashy or expensive, you can stick to the minimum since repairs to an inexpensive car will not be much. Finally, keep your driving record clean by following traffic rules and driving carefully to avoid getting into at-fault accidents.

Reader’s Question:

I am really confused. My boyfriend needs SR22 insurance but he does NOT even own a car in Idaho. How could that happen? But since we have no choice but to get one, can you at least tell me how can I get SR22 insurance rates in Idaho?

Linda

Idaho Falls, ID

Hello Linda! I just got one question for you. Were you able to ask your boyfriend why he needs to get SR22 insurance I mean non-owner SR22 insurance?

As you see Linda, not all drivers are required to get SR22 insurance. In general, only those who are involved in serious offense like driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI), or reckless driving or even driving without car insurance are the ones who need to get SR22 insurance. Well, I’m not saying that your boyfriend is guilty of any of those stuff. There are other traffic violations that require a driver to get SR22 insurance and he maybe involved in the violations that I’m not aware of.

Now, since you’ve mentioned that your boyfriend does have own a vehicle that does not mean he cannot be required by the Washington law to get SR22 insurance. Just for your information, there’s a thing that you call non-owner SR22 insurance and this is for drivers who needs to get SR22 insurance but do not own a vehicle.

So what is a non-owner SR22 insurance? It is simply an insurance policy designed for drivers who drive a vehicle they do not own. This provides coverage for vehicle/s that the driver is operating but does NOT own.

To get non-owner SR22 insurance rates in Idaho, you can check the websites that offer free online quotes for SR22 insurance. You can also ask the help of your auto insurance agent to help you find a company that offers affordable SR22 insurance rates in Idaho.

Reader’s Question:

My seventeen year old daughter just got her license last week and I am just wondering if I need to add her now to my car insurance policy in Boise, Idaho?

Mary

Boise, ID

I would suggest that you talk to your car insurance agent in Boise Idaho to be certain if you need to add your daughter to your car insurance policy because insurance carrier’s guidelines varies. Generally though, auto insurance companies would want your daughter to be added to your car insurance policy once they get their learners permit or provisional license.

You may want to be sure that your child is fully protected once they hit the road so you need to verify with your car insurance company if you need to add her to your car insurance policy.

Usually if you add a teenager to your car insurance policy in Boise Idaho, it increases your car insurance rate since they are considered inexperienced therefore may be a risk to car insurance companies. Once you add your teenager to your policy, make sure your ask for any kind of discounts that may be available to you. Some insurance carriers offer good student discount with teens who has good grades so do not forget to ask what the requirements are to get this. Another discount that you may take advantage of is the driver education course discount in which is available for younger and older drivers.
